Thanks to the kind folks who put on benefits
by Dan Hlad
Cleveland-The Cleveland Lesbian-Gay Center wishes to use this week's column to thank some extraordinary folks for their selfless acts of kindness that benefited the Cen-
ter and our programs.
First, we wanted to thank Dave and Ted who recently celebrated their tenth anniversary by raising $2,275
for the Living Room and
the Center. They turned their anniversary into a unique fundraiser
dubbed "A Fiesta Under the Stars." What a unique and innovative way to support a cause you believe in. The couple wanted to make sure that we passed on the following thanks:
"Thanks to the Cage for supplying the keg,
"Also Matt and Janette, Josh and Maurice, Nancy and Mike, Sonja and Glenn, and Ken and Bob, Ronny, Sean and Mark, Tim and Dwight, Jimbo, Jake and Paul, Troy and Jeff, Jon and Jimmy, Eric and Ronny, Bill Ness, Frank and Jeff, Ricky, David the other neighbor, Gary, Bruce and Eileen, Dan, Jeanne, Arnie and Jim.
"Plus Joe the framer, Leo, Steven, Tony,
The Center
the Leather Stallion and Rockies for the bar tabs, and Debra and Mike Perry for hiring the professional kitchen help that enabled us to have a chance to socialize and get out of the kitchen. Great to see all our old friends that have moved on from Cleveland, but were still able to attend this event for their community. Thanks to Steve for the light show (the neighborhood will never be the same). Thanks to high donors Joan Rose, Tom Isabel, and The Cage.
"Thanks also to the following contributors that made donations in lieu of gifts: Brian & Chris, Sue, Scott and Jim, Dale and Doug, Dana, Ross and Paul, David our neighbor, Scott and Jim, Marie and Jil, Mark and Jim, Mike and Debe, Linda and Jil.
Donna and Sandy, Chuck and Phillipe, Ginger, Dave and Bob, Steve; in memory of his brother David, Brian and Rick, Gomez and Bob, Rich, Greg, Sherry, and Gaye."
Secondly, we wanted to thank Rockies for naming the Center and its PRYSM youth program as beneficiaries for their second annual tea dance benefit. In addition to raising $1,418 for us, the guys from Rockies were able to acquire some cool raffle prizes and great entertainment for the event. On behalf of everyone from the Center who had the pleasure of working with these guys to put together this benefit we wanted to say thanks for the hard work that went along with it!
We want to give a special thanks to Insight, who raised over $4,000 for the Center at their October 25 masquerade ball.
A great community is certainly reflected in the response we've had with these and other events. We appreciate your continued support and enthusiasm.

Auction and Christmas trees help homeless with AIDS
Cleveland-On November 30 at 1 pm, the AIDS Housing Council of Cleveland will be host to a phenomenally unique AIDS and homeless benefit at the English Oak Room in Tower City. All proceeds for this benefit auction will go directly to the services provided by the AIDS Housing Council.
The AIDS Housing Council provides housing to people with AIDS or HIV who are homeless or about to become homeless. They provide housing, support and referral services.
The Hollywood AIDS Cleveland auction offers a unique array of celebrity memorabilia for this fundraising extravaganza. Bidders will have the opportunity to purchase memorabilia autographed by Hollywood celebrities, music entertainers, political figures and sports legends that are virtually impossible to obtain through any other source.
Each piece of memorabilia included in Hollywood AIDS Cleveland is hand signed and has a certificate of authenticity. While the catalogue of donated pieces increases each day, at present it includes a signed jersey from Michael Jordan, a collector's gift set of "White Diamonds" fragrance signed by Elizabeth Taylor, a football from Joe Montana, a basketball signed by Penny Hardaway, a bikini worn by Kathy Ireland, the first Knotts Landing script signed by Michele Lee, and autographed pictures from Brad Pitt, Barbra Streisand, Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, k.d. lang, Matthew McConaughey, Shaquille O'Neal, Cal Ripken Jr., Nolan Ryan and Eddie Murphy-just to drop a
name or two.
